HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA 2014
City of Oxford were represented by a coxless four in the Wyfold Challenge Cup and a coxed four in the Britannia Challenge Cup at the 175th Henley Royal Regatta.
The Wyfold four (Malcolm Nisbet, Tom Oades, Luke Kelly, Peter Kerswell-Jensen) took on Molesey BC in their first round in what resulted in one of the most exciting races of the first day - Oxford were behind for the majority of the race, but timed their finish to perfection as they rowed through the opposition past the Stewards' Enclosures.
They returned the next day to face Mullheim from Germany. Despite the crew's best efforts, they couldn't replicate their burst at the death, losing out by a 1/3 length.
Having sat out the first day's racing, the Brit four (Carlos Dastis, Justin Lowen, Ben Davis, Harry Robinson, coxed by Suzy Drohan) raced on Thursday morning against London RC, in what promised to be an exciting race - London had beaten Oxford by less than a second at Marlow Regatta a week earlier. Oxford took the race to London in the first half, but weren't able to turn the tables on their opposition, losing by 2 1/2 lengths.

JUNIOR SQUAD SPONSORED ROW - 3rd November, 2012
The Junior sponsored row took place on 3rd November. The row took place on the Isis because the river conditions were unsafe to go through the locks to Abingdon. The older juniors rowed the
half marathon distance (13 miles) on the Isis without a break; the younger juniors were unable to get on the river due to the strong stream conditions, but rowed four ergometers in relays over the
full 21,000 metres.
Thanks to Fiona Reid for organising this event.
