Senior Men's Squad - 2015/16 Season
The 2015/16 season is going to be a good year!
If you have rowing experience and you are interested in joining CORC Senior Men for this season's campaign, as a rower, cox or as an addition to the coaching team, please contact us via email: email@example.com
The Men's Squad at City of Oxford are open to anyone with previous rowing or sculling experience who wishes to train regularly and race at a high standard.
The Men's Squad is supported by a great coaching team and the wider Club, with the aim of producing competitive crews and improving all athletes, coxes and coaches.
The new season begins in September but the squad welcomes enquiries from rowers and especially from coxes and coaches at any time. Please direct enquiries to the Men’s Captain Rupert Pye-Watson firstname.lastname@example.org and follow us on Twitter @corcmen.
The men’s squad is split into two groups:
The Senior Squad is for those who wish to train frequently and aim to race at a competitive club level and perform well at national events (Fours Head, HORR, Dorney regattas and HRR).
There is an expectation that if you want to perform well, you need to train well. Training is built around Saturday and Sunday mornings on the water. In the winter, midweek sessions are in the gym and on the ergos; in the summer those sessions turn into evening outings. There is flexibility within the programme for those who need it and can be arranged with the Captain and coaches.
Our training is supported by our successful and committed coaching team and a good fleet of both small and big boats.
The Senior Squad itself is broken down into Tiers 1 and 2. Tier 1 is composed of those athletes who can commit to the demanding training programme from September until Henley Royal Regatta - we train hard, and play hard! Tier 2 is for those athletes who perhaps can't commit quite as much time as the Tier 1 members, but are wish to and are determined to perform to a high level nationally.
If you are interested in joining, or finding out more and whether this is for you as a rower, cox or coach, please contact email@example.com.
The Development Squad is for less experienced athletes, often Novices in the previous year, who are not ready for the full Senior Squad environment.
Expectations of attendance are similar to that of the Senior Squad, but the minimum standards required in terms of technical competence and fitness are not as high initially.
Training is based around the Senior Squad programme, only with a different water session programme (in 8s and coxed 4s) for weekend mornings and summer evenings.
The aim of the Development Squad is to be a stepping stone to the Senior Squad, to train regularly and succesfully compete at local events. The ultimate aim is for this group to target Henley Royal Qualifiers.
